How to Get an Australian Student Visa?

Regardless of what you want to study, you should ensure you have a valid Australian student visa. When compared against many other immigration schemes, Australia enjoys a lenient and straightforward process. Still, many requirements should be fulfilled if you want to study in Australia. The requirements to study in Australia, depends on the education and course you intend to take!

Six Types of Visas
If you are applying for an Australian Student Visa, here are six different options to choose from. (These visas are meant for applicants who intend to join tertiary education.)

English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students Visa is meant to candidates who want to take up an English course that doesn’t give a degree.

Vocational Education and Training Visa is for candidates who want to take up an English course and another vocational degree. This visa is required for vocational graduate certificates, vocational diplomas, vocational graduate diplomas and vocational advanced diplomas.

Higher Education Visas are applicants who want to earn an academic degree (meant for programs that are ranked between academic levels 5 to 9 by the Australian Qualification Framework).
Postgraduate Research Visa is for candidates who intend to attend a Master’s degree program. Any doctoral or Master’s program requires this visa. Your college/university will help you judge if the program is by research or coursework.

Non-award Visa is granted to candidates who intend to visit Australia for few semesters or classes.
AusAID and Defense is given to candidates who are sponsored by AusAID/Australian Department of Defense. The visa will let you enroll in full time degree programs.

The Assessments
Australian Visa is evaluated in two different ways. First of all, your application will be kept at Assessment Level. Based on your actual level, the process would be carried forward. If you are eligible, you can opt for the streamlined student visa procedure too.
Technically, the assessment level decides how quickly your visa application can be processed. Also, it helps authorities maintain a predetermined level of consistency in the approval process. This is because candidates from nearly 200 different countries apply for Australian Student Visa.

Be Financially Prepared!
“Financial Resources” play a very important role in the Australian Student Visa approval process. You (or sponsor) should have a predestined amount of money to live and study in Australia. Details about finances should be enclosed with the application (and this is very important).
